Obelisk Defined

From the Greek word meaning; "a spit". It i: monumental tapering shaft usually made of pink granite. Capped wit: pyramidion at the top. Obelisks are solar symbols similar in meaning to pyramids, they are associated with an ancient stone called BENBEN in Heliopolis. They were set in pairs, at the entrances of temples, and to some Old Kingdom tombs.
